Heart of Christmas takes shapePosted Monday, November 10, 2008
![]() Plans continue to materialize for Angleton’s first Heart of Christmas Celebration scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the courthouse grounds. ![]() Baker and Lawson Inc. has volunteered to coordinate the Tree Walk, a popular tradition that was part of Christmas on the Square. Businesses and organizations donate decorated trees that can be enjoyed by those attending the Heart of Christmas, before the beautiful trees are distributed to local needy families at the end of the night. “We are very excited about this addition to the celebration, as we think it really sums up what the night is all about, “ said Economic Development Director Patti Worfe. “We had received numerous calls from groups that wanted to participate and we are very grateful to Baker and Lawson for taking this responsibility on,” Worfe said. Another new exciting event this year will be the Movie on the Lawn, featuring the seasonal classic, “A Christmas Story,” in which humorist Jean Shepherd’s American Christmas is brought vividly to life in a nostalgic and witty remembrance of a time gone by. ![]() Filled with humor, warmth, and dozens of captivating moments, the movie's undeniable charm makes it an all-time favorite for young and old alike. Although speakers will be projecting the sound, families can bring their own radio and listen through an FM transmitter that will be set up in a similar manner to drive-in movies. More information about the Heart of Christmas celebration, and entry forms, are available on the city’s website at www.angleton.tx.us. |
