The need for relocating some adult probation employees who were housed in the former Hargis Drug Store building was discussed briefly on Thursday by Brazoria County Commissioners Court.

The roof of their office building was blown off and the structure suffered other serious damage as a result of Hurricane Ike, rendering it unusable for the probation offices without major expense.

Court members discussed several options for relocating those employees, including space now available in the former WalMart building and the purchase of another building, but the discussion was informal, and no decision was made.

Other building problems discussed included roof damage to the former WalMart building, now known as the East Annex, where the county clerk's office and some other county departments are already housed, as well as the need for space for the county's emergency operations center.

The court took no formal action on these matters, pending further information.
