The Brazosport College Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) program has recently been approved with commendations from the Texas State Board of Nursing. At a recent meeting, the Board of Nursing verbally expressed a high level of satisfaction with the credentials of the ADN program director and its teaching staff. “This is just a little something extra from the Board to let us know they recognize our efforts. It feels great to be recognized for our hard work,” said Dr. Susan McCormick, Director of ADN Program and Health Professions. The State Board issued the following written commendations: ![]() 1. The College Administration is commended for the excellent support of the proposed program and the commitment of financial resources for the development and implementation of the ADN program. 2. The College and the author of the proposal are commended for the well-written proposal and the timely response to all suggestions by Board staff for improvements to the facility and the proposal document. ![]() “Often programs are approved by the Board, but not always commended. The State Board of Nursing has shown us great support through this commendation,” said Dr. Ken Tasa, Dean of Educational Programs and Services. Brazosport College was approved in mid-July to offer the Associate Degree of Nursing; and the first class of selected students will begin classes starting September 2, 2008. Applications for the 2009 fall semester will be available January 15, 2009.
