The Center for Business and Industry Training at Brazosport College announces Anne Bartlett as the new Director. Bartlett brings to the CBIT a wealth of community connections and work experience from the non-profit sector.

“I have always believed in working for a place where I feel emotionally connected to what I was doing and why I was doing it,” said Bartlett. “Brazosport College has a fabulous reputation and is completely committed to the community. I love that.”

After serving as the Director of Resource Development for Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County for the last three and a half years, Bartlett knows what making a difference in the community feels like.

“I have always worked for non-profit organizations and loved waking up everyday with a purpose,” said Bartlett.

Bartlett, a 1997 graduate of Southwestern University has also worked for other non-profit organizations including UNICEF. Bartlett has always had an interest in working for the college.

“Every time I spoke with someone about working at BC, they would always tell me how great of a place it was,” said Bartlett.

Now that she is here on campus at the CBIT, Bartlett is finding out just how important Brazosport College is to the surrounding industries. “It is amazing what BC is doing here by preparing future and current employees of the local industries. Everything that is going on in the CBIT is serving a purpose,” said Bartlett.

Bartlett really didn’t know what to expect coming in as the new Director of the Center for Business and Industry Training, however she is enjoying the team atmosphere with the staff and the many new challenges.

With her 2 ½-year-old daughter Hannah already enrolled next door at the Bill and Julia May Children’s Center, the job just seemed to be perfect. “I love that (Hannah) is right next door and I can peek in on her when I have time,” said Bartlett.

Having her daughter next door and her husband Wenzel at Dow, the CBIT at Brazosport College seems to be the best of both worlds. “I get to work next door to my daughter at an institution that serves a community day in and day out, and have a hand in on the local industry that husband works for; it’s pretty cool,” said Bartlett.

The Center for Business and Industry Training partners with organizations through customized training, consulting, and instructional design. Local employers are allowed to focus on critical tasks while relying on CBIT training experts in the following areas such as computer software, WBT and CBT Design, Core Competency Development, Leadership, Diversity, Team Development, Safety/Technical Skills, Customer Service, Communication, and ISO 9000. The CBIT provides unique solutions to global business needs. For more information on the Center for Business and Industry Training at Brazosport College please contact Donna Thompson at 979-230-3381.
