![]() On July 18, 2008 the Brazoria County Peace Officers held their annual banquet, during which members of the Brazoria County Peace Officers Association recognize both private citizens and Brazoria County Peace Officers for outstanding work in the public venue as well as their tremendous support of Law Enforcement. The banquet also recognizes and awards educational scholarships for the children of Brazoria County Peace Officers as they work to attain higher education. ![]() The 2008 Brazoria County Peace Officers Association Citizen of the Year was awarded to Jack Todd of Angleton. Todd’s letter of nomination mentions his dedication of time and money spent on projects that benefit Brazoria County Peace Officers. Todd was instrumental in the design, development and construction of the Brazoria County Peace Officers memorial for fallen Brazoria County law enforcement officers. ![]() The 2008 Brazoria County Peace Officers Association Peace Officer of the Year was awarded to Deputy Mary Anguiano. Deputy Anguiano was recognized for her unselfish dedication, participation and organization of fundraisers that assist those less fortunate. Deputy Anguiano was also recognized for her longstanding support for officers in the field and her devotion to her duties as a Brazoria County Deputy. ![]() Three one thousand dollar scholarships were awarded to the children of Brazoria County Peace Officers. ![]() ![]() The Jackie Phillips Memorial scholarship is given in honor of long time Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office employee Jacqueline Phillips. Jackie passed away in 2004 and the scholarship is our way of recognizing her dedication to all Peace Officers and their families. The 2008 Jackie Phillips Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Stephanie Hromadka. Stephanie is the daughter of Paul and Laura Hromadka, both Brazoria County Peace Officers. Paul Hromadka is the Police Chief for Lake Jackson Police Department and Laura Hromadka is a long time Sheriff’s Deputy currently assigned as an Administrative Office Manager for Sheriff Charles Wagner. Stephanie is slated to begin her secondary education at the University of Texas this fall. Stephanie plans to begin her education in the direction of engineering and architecture. ![]() The Jack Marshall Memorial Scholarships are given in honor of former long time Brazoria County Sheriff Jack Marshall. Sheriff Marshall was elected sheriff of Brazoria County in 1947 and remained Sheriff until his retirement in 1964. The two scholarships are given in recognition of Sheriff Marshall’s “hard working ethic and common sense approach” to life in general. The Brazoria County Peace Officers Association awards two scholarships in honor of Sheriff Marshall. The two students that were awarded the Jack Marshall Scholarships are Brittaney Gamboa and Justin Rhyne. ![]() Brittaney Gamboa is the daughter of Pedro and Rita Gamboa of Brazoria. Pedro “Pete” Gamboa is a long time Brazoria County Peace Officer employed as an Investigator for the Brazoria County District Attorney’s Office. Brittaney begins her education at Texas State University in San Marcos this fall. Brittaney plans to begin her education in business. ![]() The second Jack Marshall Scholarship was awarded to Justin Rhyne. Justin is the son of Randy and Shelly Rhyne of Angleton. Randy Rhyne is a 30-year Brazoria County Peace Officer and currently is employed as a Captain for Sheriff Charles Wagner. Justin is a senior at the University of Texas. Justin’s field of study is in the College of Chemistry and hopes to complete his education within the next year. ![]() ![]() |
