McFadden elected ACP FellowPosted Monday, August 18, 2008
Brett McFadden, MD, FACP, a hospitalist and internist practicing at Brazosport Regional Health System, has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national organization of internists and internal medicine subspecialists. In the Houston area, only five other hospitalists have achieved the status of Fellow with the ACP. ![]() The Fellowship is an honorary designation given to recognize ongoing individual services and contributions to the practice of medicine. Before earning Fellow status, applicants must be board-certified, complete a minimum of 3 years of approved postgraduate training in internal medicine and pass a 2-day examination. In addition, they must be recognized by other internists for personal integrity, superior competence in internal medicine, professional accomplishment, and demonstrated scholarship. Ultimately, this honor illustrates that the doctor cares about delivering outstanding health care. Dr. McFadden earned his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency in the United States Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. He has been a practicing hospitalist since 2002 and holds professional memberships with the Society of Hospital Medicine, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and Brazoria County Health Alliance. His is also a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine. The American College of Physicians is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States. ACP members include 126,000 internists, internal medicine subspecialists, medical students, residents and fellows. There vision is to focus on topics such as improving national access to care and implementing health information technology. Additional information can be found at www.acponline.org. |
