Gloria Leflore (Center) was an 8th grader when Marshall High School merged with Angleton High School. She's joined by her grand-niece Jasmine Miller, right, 15, of Angleton, and her niece Natasha Miller, as they wait for the beginning of the Marshall High School Parade.

Parade grand marshall Emmitt Thomas, center, a 1961 graduate of the once-segregated Marshall High School in Angleton, went on to lead a heralded NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Thomas led the school’s biennial parade Saturday, joining about 200 former students and family members. Thomas is flanked by Ahmard Hall, left, of the Tennessee Titans and Gilbert Gardner of the Detroit Lions, both of whom also rode in the parade, and Hall's son, Mason.
