The Brazosport College Foundation recently hosted an event “Cocktails and Conversations” with college president Dr. Millicent Valek. Valek spoke of the growth the college has experienced and will begin to see with the expansion of new buildings and programs. She also thanked the community and donors for their support since the college began in 1968. Brazosport College will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. ![]() Gary Hockstra, vice president of Dow Texas Operations, Dr. Millicent Valek, BC president, and John May. ![]() Gerald Andrews, treasurer of the BC Foundation, Bill McIntyre, and Ed Denman. “Our growth is shown throughout the campus with the Bill & Julia May Children’s Center, the CBIT, The Clarion and soon to be BASF Center for Process Technology, the Dow Academic Center, and the Byron & Sandra Sadler Health Professions/Science Technology complex,” Valek said. With the community’s support, Brazosport College has been able to provide its students with state-of-the art facilities and excellence in higher education. ![]() David and Lisa Nicks, Ruth and Gary Hockstra. ![]() Teri and Bob Williams, Ron and Ronnie Barksdale. “We have strong ties to the community and with the rising cost of higher education, this is our opportunity to offer new programs that meet the evolving needs of industry and the students who choose to make Brazosport College their college of choice,” said Valek.
