BRHS welcomes new surgeon

Brazosport Regional is proud to welcome new cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, Dr. Cornelius Dyke. As part of Brazosport Regional’s growing medical team, Dyke will provide advanced cardiovascular and cardiothoracic interventional surgical services including Open Heart Coronary Artery Bypass, Valve Repair and Replacement, Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Lung Surgery.

Dyke received his MD from Duke University School of Medicine and completed both his residency and fellowship training in the Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia. During his training, Dyke was selected to be both Senior Resident and Chief Resident for the Medical College of Virginia. His professional affiliations include Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Humera Surgical Society, American Medical Association, and North Carolina Medical Society. He is also a diplomat of The American Board of Surgery and The American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

Dyke serves as a reviewer for The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He has published many articles in top medical journals and has written and contributed to a number of books and book chapters.

Prior to joining Brazosport Regional, Dyke was the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery for the Carolinas Heart Institute at Gaston Memorial Hospital where he performed heart and lung procedures for over the last 10 years and played a significant role in the development of the renowned heart program.

With the addition of Dyke, Brazosport Regional is now fully equipped to provide state of the art cardiac care and will house the only cardiac care center in Brazoria County.
