It’s not often that a 15-year-old is published in a professional journal, but Angleton High School sophomore Stewart Roye can now add “published author” as well as “accomplished hunter” to his resume.

While hunting with his father last season, Roye landed a 10-point buck, attracting acclaim from hunting organizations around the state. The shot won Roye 1st place in the Youth South Texas division at the recent Texas Trophy Hunters Annual Deer Competition, and it caught the eye of a well-known hunting magazine at the same time.

The Journal of Texas Trophy Hunters asked Roye to author a story about his hunting trip that day. His story and photo appear in the current (September/October 2008) edition of the magazine, which is available in stores throughout town.

Roye, an active agriculture student at AHS, has participated in a variety of FFA events including competing at state last year in the Wildlife judging contest. Ag teacher Traylor Lenz, describes Roye as an “all around, hard-working kid.”
