Franke finds fault with 2-1-1 registryPosted Monday, September 1, 2008
![]() To the Editor; Trash blows in. Trash blows out. Thank you for publishing the hurricane evacuation awareness article. We had begun to doubt ourself, but the item restored our faith in local officials - all of it BAD. *Brazoria County residents with special health care or transportation needs should make extra efforts to prepare for hurricane season. * It's so nice to know we're special. *You can register for help in an emergency evacuation by calling 2-1-1.* ![]() We stuck our head out the window and yelled 2-1-1, 2-1-1! *If you have difficulty getting to a hub, contact your local emergency management coordinator. In Angleton, call the police department at 849-2383.* See above. *You MUST bring your driver’s license or state-issued picture ID.* Driver's license? ![]() *Medications, toiletries, snacks, clothing for 5 days.* Wow! *Up to two pets per household will be allowed on the bus. No reptiles, farm animals or the like will be allowed. Cats, dogs, horses are farm animals, city-slicker. Service animals are not pets. Ever hear of a service monkey? He rides the seeing-eye horse. The courts have determined that owners cannot be asked to provide papers for service animal at public accommodation. Hub Coordinators are hub-bub, federal law prevails. Tell you what. Please don't bother yourself over our sake. Hurricanes are stressful times, and you are incompetent to meet duty even in normalcy. We shall simply remain behind. Happily, we might add- we enjoy the quiet and own a crowbar. Erwin Franke 3 ![]() |
