Sponsors needed to ‘Light Up Danbury’Posted Monday, May 12, 2008
![]() The Friends of Danbury Civic Club has received full funding and community support to install the first phase of a three-phase project to enhance the beauty and safety of the Main Street corridor and Skrabanek Park. The Civic Club received city council’s approval, cooperation and guidance on the project. Phase I includes 12 decorative lights to be placed on 5th and Main streets, outlining Skrabanek Park, and new electrical service to the lights. It is envisioned that phases II and III will incorporate the arched street lights to complement the Phase I lights, strategically placed on both sides of Main Street from the railroad tracks to 1st street. The lights will incorporate a single banner arm and a receptacle for decoration purposes and, where needed, street signs and stop/yield signs will be mounted to them as well. This project will clean up the “look” of Main Street and assist the FODCC in accessing more lucrative grants and “Main Street” project funding to further enhance our Main Street Corridor. Phases II and III will be implemented with funds made available through future FODCC fundraisers and the sponsors who help via the “Light Up Danbury” project. You can become a Red Level sponsor with a $1,000 contribution; a White Level sponsor for $500; or a Blue Level sponsor for $250. Sponsors’ names will be placed on a plaque in the park with graduated lettering for the different levels of sponsorship. For more information about becoming a sponsor, contact Janelle Williamson at 979-922-1154 or Gordon Wollam at 979-922-1720. ![]() |
