The Brazosport College Department of Music will present a President’s Day concert featuring the College and Community Wind Ensemble under the direction of Richard Birk at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 15. The performance will be offered at no cost to the public, and will be held in The Clarion, located just east of the main building at 500 College Drive, Lake Jackson. “Our program will be narrated by recently-retired Brazoswood High School band director Jim Koch, and will include patriotic music, familiar marches and beloved American folk songs,” Birk said. “I hope the community will come join us as we celebrate President’s Day.” Selections scheduled to be performed on February 15 include: “America, the Beautiful,” arranged by Jack Bullock. “National Emblem March,” by E.E. Bagley. ![]() “A Nation’s Prayer,” arranged by James D. Ployhar: A medley of two of our nation’s most beloved hymns that capture the spirit of our country and appeal to the patriotic fervor of its citizens, “God of Our Father’s” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” “Hootenanny,” by Harold L. Walters; A medley of American folk songs including “Chicken Reel,” “Michael, Row the Boat,” “Arkansas Traveler,” “I’m On My Way” and “Down by the Riverside.” “Red, White & Brass,” arranged by John Moss: Adapted from an arrangement by the Canadian Brass, this medley includes “American Patrol,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” and “Yankee Doodle Boy.” “God Bless America,” arranged by Frank D.
