September saw the beginning of new evening classes in life drawing in the Brazosport Art League studio at the Center for the Arts and Sciences, 400 College Drive, Clute.

BAL member, Kevin Cromwell, will be conducting the newly formed evening Life Drawing sessions starting September 3, from 7 to 10 p.m.

Cromwell said, “I am looking forward to this new art endeavor. For me, this is about connecting to the local art community. I've been in the BAL for about two years now. Yet, I really haven't done anything in regards to that.

“Every week or so, I get the email from Harry Sargent, coordinator for the BAL daytime Life Drawing sessions, about models and the drawing sessions and that are held from 2 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month, and I always think, ‘I wish I could do that. Too bad I'm at work.’ Finally I made the decision that I would have to step up if I wanted to see something done. And that's what I've done.

As far as models I hope to bring in interesting people. As you say, let people’s imaginations work for them. For me, it's not just trying to render the person sitting under the lights, but use them to tell a story.”

A fee of $4 per artist will be required to pay for the model(s) and use of the facilities. For more information, call Kevin Cromwell at 979-285-0653 or e-mail kepcrom@gmail.com.
