Lutheran Palooza fundraiser Saturday, July 11

A fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 2227 North Downing Road in Angleton, to help raise funds to buy a power chair and van for Ashley Reade Weatherly.

Ashley was born with multiple birth defects: spina bifida and hydrocephalus which rendered him a paraplegic. Presently, as a consequence of spina bifida and paralysis, he has developed lymphodema. His doctor at the Lymphodema Clinic at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston gave him three alternatives: remain in bed for the remainder of his life; amputation of both legs; or obtain a power chair with a leg lift and reclining capability that would halt the collection of fluid in his legs and feet.

To take advantage of the car wash, drive through in front of the church – you can make donations there.

Plate lunches will be $3 for hot dog, $4 for hamburger, and $5 for brisket, with beans, salad and chips.

Display or sale booth spaces are available for a $20 donation to sell crafts, garage sale items, baked goods, fresh garden produce, or whatever.

A $3 donation will enter you in a raffle to win a queen coverlet, a glider, a CD holder, dinner for 4, a turquoise Charm bracelet, and other treasures.

Come early, come hungry, come in your dirty car, and come generous – checks should be made out to St. John Lutheran Church, with the memo “Ash Fund Raiser.”
