The Brazoria Community Library has many activities and programs planned for the month of March. The library will be closed to commemorate Texas Independence Day on Tuesday, March 2, so our genealogy group, conducted by branch manager Jerry Measells, will meet on the second Tuesday, March 9 at 7 p.m.

AARP will continue to offer free tax help to the public each Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. through April 13. The Busy Bee quilters have many quilts on display throughout the month. Danny Coppedge of Brazoria has his Boy Scouts of America collection on display as well.

For children, we have preschool storytime every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Bedtime Stories on March 18 at 6:30 p.m. and a newly released-to-DVD family movie on March 20 at 2 p.m.

The First Thursday Book Club meeting will be held on March 4 at 4 p.m. The book for discussion is “Teacher Man” by Frank McCourt. You may request the book by calling the Brazoria Library at 979-798-2372.

Magda Longoria’s knitting class will meet on March 23 at 6:30 p.m. It is open to all knitters from beginners to those with experience. She will be demonstrating cable knitting this month.

Melissa Niebuhr’s writer’s workshop series will meet on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. The workshop is entitled “So You Think You Want to Write? From Nothing to Novel in 11 Months.” You are invited to join the group, regardless of whether you attended previous sessions.

Our meeting room is used by several groups in the Brazoria area, and they invite you to attend their monthly meetings also. Included are Busy Bee Quilt Club on the first and third Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., Treasure Hunters on the third Thursday at 7 p.m., and Brazoria County Woodcarvers on the second Saturday at 9 a.m.
