![]() Naomi Carrier (Right) will be at the Brazoria County Historical Museum to review her new book "Go Down, Old Hannah: the Living History of African American Texans" on March 10 at 6:30 p.m. The book will be for sale at the Museum and Carrier will be available for signing them. Admission is free. Carrier’s book is a collection of fifteen living history plays that were commissioned by museums and historic sites, including the Brazoria County Historical Museum, to highlight African-American experiences in and contributions to the living history of Texas. ![]() The plays cover subject matter ranging from slave celebrations, family breakups, and running away to the Civil War, Emancipation, and Reconstruction. These scripts are easily performed, and Carrier has included production notes and lesson plans, which add to the collection's appeal as a classroom tool. Carrier is known for her strong, evocative performances, and her insights into portraying African-American history in Texas are unique and perceptive. The Brazoria County Historical Museum is located at 100 E. Cedar Street in downtown Angleton in the old County Courthouse. The Museum is free and open to the public Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, telephone the Museum at 979/864-1208 or 979/388-1208 or check out our website at www.bchm.org. |
